GV Farm to School Programs

At Gallatin Valley Farm to School, we connect kids and families with local food in the garden, cafeteria, and community.

Our program vision is to:

  • Meet people where they are, and invite them to our table;

  • Give children and families the agency to participate in our local food system in anyway that is appropriate for them;

  • Grow community resiliency through delicious food!

We do this by enhancing food literacy education, creating access to local food, and building partnerships across the food system. To learn more about specific programs, check out our Program Menu below!

Our curriculum embodies three main guiding principals:

Inquiry-based instruction

Place-based content

Experiential learning opportunities

    School-Based Education

    Our school programs are hands-on, place-based, and supportive of NGSS and IEFA learning standards. Our skilled Farm to School educators help bring science, nutrition, local food, reading, math, and more to life for students in the classroom, school garden, or schoolyard.

  • Mobile Community Cooking

    GVF2S educators can travel to your program or event to provide hands-on learning experiences around cooking, food, nutrition, and recipe development. We provide a memorable, unique learning experience to make cooking accessible by teaching basic to advanced cooking skills, food preparation and preservation, and recipe development and adaptation to fit your lifestyle. Join us to gain confidence in and outside the kitchen!

    Family Programs

    Family Programs are a fun, memorable learning experience for the whole family! Families learn cooking skills, how to shop local on a budget, and how to involve kids in the kitchen, all while making and enjoying a fresh, seasonal meal together.

    School's Out Day Camps

    School’s Out Day Camps are a great place for kids to learn and have fun on PIR days and other times when school is not in session, but parents still have to work. Camps provide exciting, enriching experiences with trained staff for kids in grades 1-5.

    Local Food Access

    We work with food service personnel and other professionals to provide resources and connections to increase the amount of local, nutritious food served in schools and other institutions. GVF2S can provide recipes, connections to local farms, help with taste tests, educational experiences, and other resources to help make a local food procurement program feasible, sustainable, and successful.
