OCTOBER’S HARVEST OF THE MONTH: APPLES!
October means fall is here, which also means it is time to bob for apples! Did you know that 25% of an apple’s volume is air, which is what allows them to float?
The first commercial apple orchard was planted in Montana in the Bitterroot Valley in the 1870’s. There are five varieties of apples that grow well in the state of Montana. These include Lodi, McIntosh, Goodland, Empire, and Carroll.
Apples are a great source of fiber, potassium, and Vitamin C. They can help improve heart health and reduce the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.
Join us for Montana Crunch Time! All throughout the state on Thursday, October 24th at 2:00 in the afternoon, we will be biting into a local Montana apple.
