Garden Explorers (June 14-18, Grades 1-2)
Come investigate the mysteries of the garden with us! During this week, we will discover the natural wonders of the garden and the critters living in it. Campers will spend time getting their hands dirty, learning about how food grows, and exploring life below and above the soil. We will ask questions about how our garden works and have fun discovering the answers! Campers can expect lots of gardening, yummy snack making, games, crafts, and tons of exploration!
Art in the Garden (June 21-25, Grades 3-5)
Join us as we use the garden and its plants and animals to inspire great works of art! Which plants make the best dyes? And can root vegetables really be used as coloring tools? Find out the answers to these questions and more in our Art in the Garden camp! We will use a variety of mediums to make garden art and learn about what it means to be an artist. This camp will explore many artforms including music, theater, and food art as well!
Budding Artists (June 28-July 2, Grades 1-2)
Calling all kids who like to create and craft! Budding Artists is a camp where creativity blooms! In this camp we will explore a variety of garden artforms from food art to music and theater! Have fun exploring plant dyes and making works of art that are inspired by the garden we grow!
Magic in the Garden (June 29-July 1, Age 4-Kindergarten)
Attention all young wizards and witches! The garden is a super magical place full of unseen creatures, extraordinary plant powers, and mysterious marvels. Spend this enchanted week with us building fairy and elf houses, mixing plant potions, and learning about some 'supernatural' plants! Wands and wings are welcome!
Agriculture Engineers (July 6-9, Grades 6-8)
We need you and your creativity to help us take on earth, soil, sun, and water challenges in the garden! This camp is centered around hands-on problem solving for real-world problems. We will work together to discover how to make gardening, cooking, and agriculture more fun and efficient! How can we cook food without electricity? How can we save water in the garden? Can we engineer a container garden ecosystem? Join us as we roll up our sleeves, put on our thinking caps, and create some amazing inventions!
Garden Naturalists (July 12-16, Grades 3-5)
Are you a budding naturalist? Do you enjoy exploring your natural surroundings and discovering new plants and animals? Join us for a camp focused on exploring our natural world and how it influences the garden! We will spend time investigating the plants and animals in our garden and around Story Mill Park using binoculars, bug catchers, magnifying glasses, and nature journals. Campers can expect nature walks, tree, plant, and bird identification, gardening time, and stream exploration!
Garden Sprouts (July 13-15, Age 4-Kindergarten)
Garden Sprouts is a fun and interactive garden-based summer camp experience for preschool and kindergarteners. We use hands-on activities to discover where food comes from through planting and harvesting, bug and soil explorations, games, storytelling, imagination, crafts, and taste tests of delicious farm fresh foods. Campers will be engaged in learning and discovery while having fun in our growing garden!
Bugs in the Garden (July 19-23, Grades 1-2)
Pollinators, compost critters, and pests, oh my! Learn about helpful and harmful bugs, how to look for signs of critters, and how we can encourage our helpful friends to visit our garden! Help us grow a pollinator garden and eat delicious snacks inspired by our little friends.
Top Chefs (July 26-30, Grades 6-8)
Do you have what it takes to be a Top Chef? Join us to prepare fresh meals with exquisite flavors from the garden. We will explore different flavor profiles, learn about how to sustainably source ingredients, sharpen our kitchen skills, and be mindful food critics. Serve up some garden favorites and create your own menu in the competition to become GVF2S’s Top Chef!
Garden Detectives (August 2-6, Grades 3-5)
Who has been munching on the leaves of the cabbage? Why do bees visit some flowers much more than others? What happens to the leaves in the compost pile? Join us this week to uncover some of the garden’s biggest mysteries. We will use our detective skills to find signs of which animals have been visiting us, investigate change in the garden, and use science and other methods to answer some of our most burning questions!
Seed to Snack (August 9-13, Grades 1-2)
Straight from the garden to your mouth! How can we create yummy snacks using our garden produce? This week, we will be equal parts gardening and cooking to create the freshest, most delicious meals! Learn how to harvest produce from the garden, practice proper kitchen safety, and cook and enjoy creative creations!
Garden Chefs (August 16-20, Grades 3-5)
Who’s ready to eat their way through colorful, fresh produce all week long!? Campers will transform foods of all colors of the rainbow into fun, healthy, local meals. We will learn about mindful tasting, eating for our bodies and planet, and how to be brave and adventurous tasters as we grow, make, and try new foods!
Garden Friends (August 23-27, Grades K-1)
What (and who!) is living in our garden? How do bugs, animals, other plants, sun, water, and air help our garden grow big and beautiful? Explore all of the garden’s friends with us! Create art from the garden, build habitats for our bug friends, and make some delicious snacks, too! Come be a friend of the garden!
