Bringing Local Beef to the Lunchroom

An exciting message from the Bozeman School District:

“Did you know Gallatin County is home to 36,000 cows?  Yet, due to the cost of cattle and processing, it is extremely difficult for our school district to afford local beef.

BSD7 is now partnering with our neighbors at the Producer Partnership which has been providing local nonprofits with local beef since 2020.  The Producer Partnership is the first federally inspected non-profit processing facility in the United States.  They will be processing all donated animals free of charge. By partnering with them, our goal is to be serving top quality, all Gallatin County beef in our homemade items by 2024.

What do we need to make this happen?

Our food service program goes through almost 16,000 pounds of ground beef a year.  This is around 40 cows.  We are looking for donations of culled cattle. That can be done here.

Don’t have a cow?

You can give a monetary donation to help us purchase one! Monetary donations can be made here. 100% of animal and monetary donations will go directly back to feeding students in the Bozeman School District.
