Would you like to introduce your students to the school garden and meet Common Core curriculum standards at the same time? Gallatin Valley Farm to School, Learning by Nature, Hyalite Elementary, and Irving Elementary are hosting “Growing the Common Core,” a school garden teacher workshop.
The two-part workshop will be held on February 19th and 26th, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The first session will be held at Irving Elementary and the second at Hyalite Elementary. The focus of the workshop will be integrating garden activities with Common Core standards for grades K-3, but teachers of all grade levels are welcome and can adapt the resources to meet their needs. In addition to Common Core activities and lessons, participants will learn how to effectively use the garden as a learning laboratory and have the opportunity to explore the inspirational gardens of Irving and Hyalite Elementary Schools.
Four hours of continuing education credit will be available for attendance to both sessions. Participants will be able to get USDA school garden curriculum kits free-of-charge. The cost of the workshop will be $15 for each participant. For more information please contact Gallatin Valley Farm to School by email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 406-219-1010.
