What is your New Year’s resolution? Eat healthy, eat local? At Gallatin Valley Farm to School, our goal for this year is to increase the momentum and reach of farm to school programs in the Gallatin Valley! Over the past year, there have been many farm to school and school garden successes—and they continue to grow even through the winter. Gallatin Valley Farm to School invites all to attend the annual Farm to School Champions Network Meeting on January 31, 2013 beginning at 6:30pm at the Bozeman Public Library.
Learn about farm to school program and how the many farm to school related projects have blossomed in the area, including the Irving School Garden and Orchard, Hyalite Elementary School’s new FoodCorps member, local fundraising and school greenhouse in Amsterdam. This meeting will showcase these fantastic projects and provide an opportunity for attendees to connect and discuss their ideas. This meeting is also a great opportunity for school food service managers and farmers to meet and begin to make plans for offering healthy, farm-fresh foods in school meals.
The recipient of the Gallatin Valley Farm to School Carrot Award will be recognized. This award honors individuals or groups who champion farm to school efforts and have made progress in one or more of the three areas of farm to school—cafeteria, classroom, and community.
This meeting is free and all are welcome to attend. Space is limited, so please RSVP by email firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone (406) 219-1010. Light refreshments will be provided.
